Finals Week

It is finals week. My first one in college. So while studying (or thinking about studying), here are the albums I’m listening to to get me through the week alive.

Thelonious Monk: the last thing you see before you die.

It’s a lot of jazz and things without lyrics, so I can keep it on in the background.

Thelonious Monk’s “Brilliant Corners”

Bill Evans Trio’s “Sunday at the Village Vanguard”

Ken Burns Jazz collection of John Coltrane

And I got a bunch of new stuff from the library, including:

Miles Davis’ “Bitches Brew”

Brahms’ Piano Quartets #1, #2, and #3

And for good measure, some music with words:

The Decemberists’ “The Crane Wife”

Elliott Smith’s “XO”, “Figure 8”, and “Either/Or”

and Grizzly Bear’s “Veckatimest” and “Yellow House”.

All fairly relaxing stuff.

Here’s a link to a John Coltrane/Duke Ellington classic I enjoy.
